This 2 CV can be recharged on a Tesla terminal

The charm of the old combined with modernity. This is what the Dutch firm 2cvGarage wanted to develop by renovating and refitting Citroën’s famous 2 CV. The collector’s model of the French manufacturer has thus gone into an electric version. If on its first electric “deudeuche”, 2cvGarage had placed the battery in place of the tank and the spare wheel, on this new retrofit the company has managed to integrate it into the chassis, details the Clean Automobile site. The base of the 2 CV being hollow, a larger battery pack can, in fact, be slipped there.

This LFP (lithium-iron-phosphate) battery pack makes it possible to limit the weight, but also to gain in autonomy. It is thanks to a battery manufacturer that the Dutch company was able to integrate this very compact pack – which adds 200 kilos to the total weight of the car – in the chassis. Most batteries sit on the bottom, while a pack sits a little higher on the back, where the tank is. This assembly thus makes it possible to have a lower and more centered center of gravity, compared to the old arrangement.

Three battery capacities

2cvGarage offers its electric model, the 2cvE, with three battery capacities, and therefore three different ranges. The first pack of 27 kWh allows you to travel up to 190 km on a single charge. A second pack allows, thanks to its capacity of 32 kWh, to cover 220 kilometres. And, the largest of the three packs offers a capacity of 37 kWh, allowing a range of 250 kilometers. The company estimates that it takes twenty minutes to recover a third of the car’s range, on fast charge. Indeed, the 2cvE has a Combo CCS socket, which allows it to use fast terminals, including Tesla Superchargers. The software aspect of this electric 2 CV was designed by EVcreate, another Dutch company. According to 2cvGarage, this car can drive on all roads, including the highway. However, at 125 km/h, consumption is 50% higher, and it is therefore advisable not to exceed 100 km/h.
