The Tesla Model S celebrates its tenth anniversary!

Delivered to its first owners on June 22, 2012, the Tesla Model S celebrated its tenth anniversary yesterday.

Present for a decade on the automotive market, the first electric car produced in series by the Californian giant has undergone various updates, software, of course, but also aesthetics, even if the general look remains close to the initial version. Steady improvements over the years that make the Tesla Model S one of the most popular electric cars in the world even today, even though the competition is getting tougher and tougher.

And yet, the Model S is still based on the same platform as the model delivered to the first customers ten years ago. A longevity that challenges in an auto industry quick to renew its models more and more frequently (on average every six years).

Produced at the Factory in Frémont, California, the Tesla Model S has since been joined in the catalog by new references in different segments, the American manufacturer developing at high speed. Thus, the more affordable Model 3, the SUV Model Y or the Model Y (Plaid) are today headliners for Tesla, while sales of the Model S are running out of steam.

However, even today, its replacement by a new generation does not seem to be on the agenda for Tesla. Barring a surprise. Which with Elon Musk can never be totally ruled out.
