Tesla wants to significantly expand its German factory – ICT news

The car manufacturer Tesla plans to significantly expand its plant located near the German capital Berlin. This is what the local federated authority has just announced.

The government of Brandenburg, where the US electric car maker’s gigafactory is located, has confirmed that Tesla is considering buying additional land. According to the RBB station, the company intends to acquire around 100 hectares east of its factory, in order to be able to use a station for freight trains and additional storage space. Currently, Teslay already occupies some 300 hectares.

The factory was officially inaugurated on March 22. The start-up had been delayed eight months due to permit issues. This was the largest investment – 5 billion euros – made in a car factory in Germany in recent history.
