It’s not just in France that electric cars are on the rise. On the other side of the Channel, the situation is even more impressive. And the Tesla Model Y is downright festive!
As with us, car sales are still at half mast with our neighbors across the Channel. The situation is even, to be honest, a little more complicated since the British car market achieved its worst score since 1998 with 243,479 units sold. Behind these poor figures nevertheless hides a good performance, that of electric models whose registrations jumped by 78.7% compared to March 2021, not bad. And that’s not all because it simply sold more in the month of March 2022 alone than in the whole of 2019! By adding the sales of January, February and March, sales of zero-emission vehicles have even more than doubled in the space of one year (+101.9%). And, in this little game, the Tesla Model Y which finally lands in Europe comes out with honors since it is simply placed in 1st place in the ranking, all models and all engines combined. Hat !
Two Teslas lead UK sales in March
To tell the truth, it is not the only Tesla model on the podium, in 2nd place sits the Model 3 which is still as successful, it which was in 2021 over the full year the 2nd best seller behind the Vauxhall Corsa, equivalent to our Opel that you know well and which is downgrading to 3rd position. The rest of the ranking is occupied almost exclusively by SUVs. The only exception is the model that finished in 10th place, the Ford Fiesta.
