After ” Say Siri », « Hey Google ” Where ” Alexa “, this is the new voice request that you will need to know, at least if you have Sonos equipment. The manufacturer of audio products should indeed launch its own voice assistant that will be summoned by a ” Hey Sonos “, according to information from The Verge.
This assistant will make it possible to control the music coming out of the Sonos speakers and coming from several platforms: Apple Music would be in the game, as well as Amazon Music, Deezer, Pandora and Sonos Radio. On the other hand, the two heavyweights that are Spotify and YouTube will not be present for the launch. The function will not record voice commands and will not transmit them to servers: we understand that everything will be managed locally.
Sonos offers a French voice assistant as an alternative to Google and Alexa
Always according to The Verge, this Sonos Voice Control feature — which doesn’t cancel Alexa and Google Assistant support — will ship first to US users starting June 1. The international launch will take place at an undetermined date. All Sonos products running the S2 software will be able to take advantage of this new feature (but probably not devices that don’t have a microphone like the Roam SL).
Sonos should present this assistant on May 25, during a press conference which could also see a bar of its “budget” tumble down to less than $ 250. This initiative is in addition to the broader service integration strategy for the manufacturer. The latter would also work on an operating system for home cinema equipment.
