About half of women surveyed by US researchers reported unusual but transient bleeding. The European Medicines Agency continues to investigate these rare side effects.

SAccording to a large American survey, conducted online among more than 39,000 people currently or formerly menstruating, almost half (42%) reported heavier bleeding after being vaccinated against covid – while around the same proportion (44 %) reported no change, with 14% reporting lighter periods. Other respondents who were usually not menstruating (39% of people on gender-affirming hormones, 71% of women on hormonal contraception, or 66% of postmenopausal women) also experienced unusual bleeding.
