How to Update Google Earth Maps

Take a virtual vacation and travel the world with Google Earth.

Google Earth is an application that allows the user to browse the globe from their desktop. Users can easily zoom in on any part of the world to see it in more detail. Google Earth also has several “layers” that add additional data and context to areas of the map, such as news articles, photos, videos, wikipedia entries, historical images and information, and more.

Periodically, Google updates the satellite map images, providing more accurate and detailed information. To ensure that you are viewing the latest map images, update your version of Google Earth.

Download the latest version of Google Earth from the Google Earth website (see Resources). Save the installer file to your desktop.

Double-click the downloaded installer file.

Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation. Restart the computer after installation is complete; it’s not necessary, but it’s a good idea.

Launch Google Earth. The maps will be the most recent provided by Google.
