Google Chrome offer useful customization options through the side panel. For example, you can quickly access your signs or reading list from the side panel. Thus, according to your preferences, you can activate or deactivate the Side Panel in Google Chrome. Just follow the list of instructions described in the message.
The Google Chrome side panel is hidden by default. So to make it visible you will need to enable a Chrome flag. Once done, a vertical sidebar should appear on the right side of the browser allowing you to access important signs and reading list pages. Let’s see how it’s done!
- Launch the Chrome browser.
- Type chrome://flags/ in the address bar and press the Enter key.

Open a new tab in the browser and type the following and press Enter key – chrome://flags/.

Press the drop-down button next to this entry and change the status of Default to ‘Asset‘ option.

UPDATED METER: Preference/flag to enable or disable the Chrome side panel has been removed from Chrome 102 and later versions. So this method no longer works for Chrome 102 and later. It looks like Google has enabled the side panel by default. You can only improve its experience through other flags like:
- Improved Clobbering side panel
- Path of the side panels
- Unified side panel
