ANOTHER FORMER PIR WINS AN EMMY!! 🏆🏆🏆Noah Cooper and I are SO proud of you, Samantha Spinaci! 👏It's been an honor to watch you grow from a TEGNA Producer-in-Residence here in Tampa into a promoted producer at ABC10 in Sacramento. 🙏And, now, you've WON a Regional Emmy in Northern California for producing “To The Point with Alex Bell," which dives deeper into the stories of the day and offers context to your audience in California. 📺I know Monika Diaz, Rachel Jacobs and the team feel so lucky to have you (even though I miss you)!!You've come so far since your days at The University of Georgia, where TEGNA greats like Lorra Lynch Jones, Thomas Goodhew, Julie Wolfe and MANY more got their starts! We're all thrilled for you. This is only the beginning! 😀😀#TeamTEGNA

TWO BRILLIANT MINDS 🧠 What an absolute TREAT to spend the week meeting some of the nation’s best meteorologists in Myrtle Beach. 🏖️ Among the many attendees of the #AMS51BC/#7WxComm were several TEGNA chief meteorologists — including Charlotte’s Brad Panovich and Cleveland’s Betsy Kling.Often, the greatest thing we can do as an organization is LISTEN to our front-line folks who have the BEST ideas for collaborating on innovative ideas that move us forward. 👂 I’ll need the whole flight home to process this morning’s conversation. I feel smarter and inspired after spending time with these two. 💯 If you’re an early-career meteorologist looking to break into the industry, I highly encourage you to follow Brad and Betsy. Both continue to make major IMPACTS in their markets. And if you’d like to explore on-air weather jobs with us, please don’t hesitate to reach out: stephen@tegna.com#TeamTEGNA

THE LEGEND HIMSELF 🙌It’s been an absolute privilege spending time at #AMS51BC/#7WxComm. Not only have we been chatting with so many respected meteorologists from around the country — but we’ve also gotten to spend time with our TEGNA icons.Longtime (now retired) WLTX-TV Meteorologist Jim Gandy stopped by the #TeamTEGNA table today!Seeing Jim, Betsy Kling, Brad Panovich and many more…was yet another reminder of how lucky we are (and have been) to share space with so many brilliant weather minds who make this company great. 🙏

THIS WAS A FIRST! ✈️ Sat with a fellow Stephen Adams on the flight today. The airline was confused when I went to check bags because it seems the other Stephen had already checked in. 🧳 Luckily, everything went smoothly — and we got the chance to meet. He’s a pastor!I’m on my way to the American Meteorological Society’s 51st Conference on Broadcast Meteorology and Seventh Conference on Weather Warnings and Communication. ☀️ If you’ll be in Myrtle Beach this week, stop by the TEGNA booth and say “hi” to Adam Miller and me. 👋 #TeamTEGNA #AMS51BC #7WxComm

This is leadership. ⬇️TEGNA's Memphis News Director Denisha J. Thomas helped mentor Ben Sawyers, who rose from a marketing intern at her station into the newsroom's first multi-platform producer. Her team took the creative, videography and social storytelling skills that Ben had and nurtured those into a fresh path that had him producing an array of newscasts and digital content — knowing that wouldn't be the end of Ben's journey. 💻📺Denisha then supported Ben's pursuit of the senior digital content manager position at our Dallas station, WFAA. And, here she is, congratulating him on his first day! 🙌As Brené Brown has spoken about, true leaders take responsibility for finding the POTENTIAL IN PEOPLE and have the COURAGE to develop that potential. 🙏Like so many of our leaders across #TeamTEGNA, Denisha is raising up those around her. 👏👏

END OF AN ERA: The world’s longest-serving TV news broadcaster is retiring after 58 years at 13WHAM ABC.Many of us who grew up in Rochester can’t remember a time when Don Alhart wasn’t our local anchor. 🎤 Don has covered the news with curiosity, empathy, and ethics. 🗞️ He mentored so many journalists over the years. He was a role model for me (even following in his footsteps to Ithaca College). 👨🎓 Don is a bright light in the industry. ☀️ Happy retirement, Don. You’ve earned it.#DonAlhart #RochesterNY #LocalNews #IthacaCollege

My West Coast recruiting partner (and smarter half of the early career duo) is being his usual awesome self and working to improve lives. 👏 For those who don’t know, Noah is an incredible athlete. Naturally, he’s doing another Ironman race the day before our next Producer-in-Residence class begins training. 🏃 🚴 🏊 All in a day’s work for Noah. 🙌He’ll be raising money to help ALS patients. If you’d like to support Noah, you can find information here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gR_bbMdT

Restoring the true meaning of Memorial Day 🇺🇸 That’s the mission that led veteran U.S. Navy SEALs Clint Bruce and Stephen Holley to launch Carry The Load. The nonprofit has since scaled to include more than military heroes — also recognizing first responders and their families. This Memorial Day, though, we reflect on that original mission and all the service members who made the ultimate sacrifice. 🙏 This week, the TEGNA Foundation and our Dallas colleagues at WFAA handed a $20,000 check to Carry The Load.
