Apple TV+ records the best growth in the UK in Q1 2022

The beginnings were difficult with a catalog and a limited number of supports, but today Apple TV+ has everything to seduce you. We find a catalog filled with exciting original creations, a great diversity in content, a very attractive price (only €4.99/month without commitment) and the possibility of accessing the application on devices that are not in the Apple ecosystem! How to resist Apple TV + … We wonder.

Apple TV+ sees record growth in the UK

Would the British have a small heart stroke for the headed streaming service?
According to data collected by the London company Broadcasters Audience Research Board (BARB), Apple TV+ has an easier time generating new subscriptions in the UK. This trend in favor of Apple’s streaming service can be explained in several ways:

  • The popularity of content as See, Finch, Servant, Severance, historical planet… The British regularly see on TV, in the media or in transport all this content which is exclusively accessible on Apple TV+.
  • Awards at prestigious ceremonies !
When we observe the astronomical number of nominations and prizes obtained by original Apple creations, we cannot help but think “Maybe I’m missing out on a series I’m going to love!”.
  • Local content. Apple offers a few series that were filmed in the UK, for many people, this is an argument to subscribe.
The list is short, but there are several programs that have had one, several or all of their episodes shot in the UK:
    -Slow Horses
    – The Essex Serpent
    – Trying
    – Ted Lasso

BARB shared several interesting statistics on Apple TV+ activity during the first quarter of 2022.
According to the data obtained, Apple TV+ has experienced a growth of 27% in the United Kingdom, which gives access to the Apple catalog in 1.57 million households. Officially, Apple displays the better growth across the entire UK market!

On the competition side, Disney+ shows an increase of 19% with a presence in 6.53 million homes, Prime Video continues with more timid growth (+6%) with availability in 13.25 million households and to conclude, Netflix shows the smallest growth with 3%but with a catalog accessible in 17.29 million homes.

Obviously, this is good news for Apple TV+, but it remains insufficient to come and “tickle” the competition and start worrying the giants of the sector. The headed streaming service still seems to suffer from politics “100% original creations” which causes few entries in the catalog every month.
