Apple has recently offered its new 35 W charger which has the particularity of having two USB-C ports. It is thus possible to charge two devices at the same time. The manufacturer has since released a support page to share further details.
In most cases, connecting two devices to Apple’s 35W charger will result in 17.5W on each device. But there are exceptions, especially when a product consumes less energy, such as the Apple Watch:
- If you connect a MacBook and an iPhone or iPad, each device receives up to 17.5W.
- If you connect an iPhone and an iPad, each device receives up to 17.5 W.
- If you connect a MacBook or iPhone and an Apple Watch or AirPods, the portable Mac or iPhone receives up to 27.5W and the Apple Watch or AirPods receives up to 7.5W.
Apple adds that if one of the devices needs more power, the other device and its cable must be unplugged from the power adapter.
The 35 W power adapter with two USB-C ports costs 65 euros from Apple and Amazon. There is a standard model sold worldwide and a compact model available in a few countries, including the United States and Canada. In both cases, the price is the same.
